Former Reagan budget director David Stockman rips the budget proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan:
“The Ryan Plan boils down to a fetish for cutting the top marginal income-tax rate for ‘job creators’ — i.e. the superwealthy — to 25 percent and paying for it with an as-yet-undisclosed plan to broaden the tax base. Of the $1 trillion in so-called tax expenditures that the plan would attack, the vast majority would come from slashing popular tax breaks for employer-provided health insurance, mortgage interest, 401(k) accounts, state and local taxes, charitable giving and the like, not to mention low rates on capital gains and dividends. The crony capitalists of K Street already own more than enough Republican votes to stop that train before it leaves the station.”
Wonderful. So??? All over the country more Republicans are getting registered–by significant margins. For the Democrats registration is slow!!!
Oppressive voter registration laws are being upheld by activist Judges. Early voting in States like Ohio no longer exists, even though approx. 65% of African American American voters cast their ballots during that early period. In addition, it appears Democrats are waiting for the case to be appealed, as opposed to getting those affected by the law, registered. They might lose the appeal, and then what? The elections are around the corner.
In my State, I have been contacted about 6-times by the Republican party to ask me if I am registered. And the party also provided me with information about how to get my proper voter Id. The registered Democrats say no one has contacted them. My State has strict voter Id laws. I am not sure about the Democrats ground game. In 2008, they called Democrats and rallied them strongly providing then a lot of information and guidance. This time, nothing!!
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. However, if more is not done to gin up the base of the Democratic party to increase voter registration and get voters the proper ID, it might not turn out well.
Here’s to hoping things change.
