President Obama is going to win the election in November, and the Republicans only have themselves to thank. “That’s what happens when you run with losers,” notes Bret Stephens in the Wall Street Journal. Forget Obama’s wealth of policy troubles: “It doesn’t matter that Americans are generally eager to send Mr. Obama packing.” Voters simply want to be “reasonably sure” they won’t get “another fiasco.” But with this Republican lineup, “they can’t be reasonably sure.”

A vote for Newt Gingrich “is a vote for an entertaining election, not a Republican in the White House.” Mitt Romney can’t win people over because “they suspect he’s concealing some unnameable private doubt,” and his “convictions are the veneer.” At least Obama “stands for something,” notes the conservative Stephens. As for Rick Santorum and Ron Paul, their bases love them, and no one else does. Equally to blame are Mitch Daniels, Chris Christie, and the rest of the Republican “A-team,” Stephens notes. “If Mr. Obama wins in November—or, rather, when he does—the failure will lie as heavily on their shoulders as it will with the nominee.”
